Babysue Review
White Bed (Independently released CD, Pop)Scott Garred has been a favorite here in babysueland ever since we first heard his songs when he was in the ridiculously underrecognized pop band Silver Scooter. The scooter eventually stopped...but Scott has continued recording and releasing music under the name Super XX Man. White Bed is somewhat of a departure from the last Super XX Man album in that the songs are more upbeat and pop-oriented. Scott makes albums that are all about songs. Instead of using the latest technology to cover up for a lack of substance he begins the process with songs that would be just as strong if they were delivered using a single guitar. These tracks were recorded using appropriate restraint. Instead of overlaying everything to death the arrangements are left simple and somewhat sparse...allowing those cool understated lead vocals to take center stage. Smart articulate cuts include "When We Were Young," "Box Store," "Spring Has Sprung," and "Upsetter." Another fantastic offering from one of the truly great underground pop songwriters. on the planet... Top pick.
About
Super XX was an old b&w film made by Kodak which I called it “double x.” One day I received a letter from a friend in my former hometown of Pullman, WA, in which she said that she dreamed I had a heart attack. In my response, I performed live to 4-track cassette the song “The Destroyer” which begins with the lyric “I dreamed I was Super XX Man flying over Texas.” That was the center piece on the self-titled 12-song cassette released in September, 1995.Join us in celebrating 15 years
With a new band we will celebrate 15 years this fall. Our hope is to mark the occasion with an amazing show, featuring songs from all our years, and drop a brand new album which will be Vol. XIII. Our new band is capable of playing the entire catalog of music - from the hushed acoustic ukulele tunes to the louder stuff like Hot August Nights and Crazy People.PSU Vanguard Article

PDX Pipeline reviews Super XX Man at Mississippi Studios
from PDX Pipeline

By Christine Taylor
Last Friday night, Super XX Man (pronounced “super double ex man”) played a fantastic show at the nice and newly reopened Mississippi Studios. However it made me question the Portland music scene a little. How is it a band this good could have under 50 people in attendance in a city famed for it music followers? Granted it was cold outside, and the new venue is a bit crisp, but Scott Garred is a seasoned Indie-folk songwriter with at least 12 LP’s under his wings (all of which are good and you can listen to at www.superxxman.com).
